The Ernesto Helmer Natural and Archaeological Route is located in Milodón Cave area and it 's home of more than 45 species of birds, including condors, eagles and woodpeckers.
This route includes a visit to several caves where we can see cave paintings and archaeological remains. In addition, between December and January it is possible to see up to 10 species of Orchid THE ROUTE
We pick you up at your accommodation in Puerto Natales and head to Rupestre. After 20 minutes we registered and began our tour next to the Milodón Cave. During the walk, we go through condoreras and lenga forests, until we reach the "Lago Sofia" viewpoint, with a spectacular view of the lagoon and mountains that surround it. We continue the tour passing through rocky walls where we will be able to observe cave paintings that are proof of the presence of the original peoples that inhabited this region. We continue in the direction of La Ventana Cave where we will be in the presence of archaeological sites. On the south-east side is the Escondida Cave, which we will enter crouching down and with frontal lights, to reach the place where we will find millenary stalactites and stalagmites formed by minerals that took millions of years to form. Leaving the cave, we head towards the “Dos Herraduras” eaves where we will enter in a lenga forest with trees that are more than 300 years old. After this, we finish the tour and return to Puerto Natales |
