THE ROUTE
We pick you up at your accommodation and after approximately 1 hour driving along Bahía del Bote route, we arrive at Estancia Vega Castillo to go deeper and visit the wetland of the same name. The ranch has more than 450 hectares of wetlands and this body of water is one of the largest in the area and the one that concentrates the greatest variety of species. It is surrounded by Nothofagus forests, the Tres Pasos River and Toro Lake, which gives it special characteristics that have made it the nesting site for species such as Black-necked Swan, Coscoroba Swan, Black-faced Ibis, Cinnamon Teal and Magellanic Horned Owl, among others. Its rush islands are the home to a wide variety of plant and animal life. The cattle of the estancia that die because of predators such as the puma and the fox, also allow a large presence of birds of prey that come down to feed on this carrion. At noon we take a break to rest and eat. After this we go to the area of the reeds where we will have the possibility of observing rare birds in the region, such as Wren-like Rushbird, Yellow-winged Blackbird and Many-coloured Rush-Tyrant. In the afternoon we take you back to your lodging. |
